CalcuL8™ delivers results-oriented and field-tested strategies, based on hard science, to help your organization reduce future health-related costs. You are provided with the capabilities to predict and plan how specific interventions will impact employee behavior and health-related costs.
Process Overview
1. CALCUL8™ begins with the collection of organizational population data including:
-
Demographic information
-
Selected health claims metrics
-
Employee health risk factors (i.e. HRA aggregate report)
-
Median salary for health-related productivity cost estimates
The data is collected and compiled using a comprehensive Data Request Form (DRF), which can easily be completed by collaborating with the organization’s human resources department and health care provider.
2. Once the data is submitted, the CALCUL8™ report examines eight of the twenty-five Major Diagnostic Categories (MDCs), which are most closely related to lifestyle behaviors. These eight MDCs are:
-
Neoplasm (Cancer)
-
Circulatory
-
Respiratory
-
Digestive
-
Genitourinary
-
Pregnancy & childbirth
-
Musculoskeletal and connective tissue
-
Endocrine/Nutritional/Metabolic
Each MDC is composed of risk factors, for example: “Circulatory” is comprised of these risk factors:
-
Diabetes
-
Smoking
-
Hypertension
-
Physical inactivity
-
High cholesterol
-
Overweight
-
Family History (non-modifiable)
-
High alcohol use
-
Age >40 (non-modifiable)
-
Depression
-
Stress
3. Examining costs of all risk factors across the eight MDCs that are most closely related to lifestyle behaviors is how CalcuL8™ determines dollar amounts associated with modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors. A report and management PowerPoint presentation are provided.
