Health and Productivity Cost Analysis

This instrument, co-developed with Dr. David Chenoweth, is an innovative medical claims analysis tool which assists organizations in identifying their most costly lifestyle-related risk factors that are modifiable and preventable. Additionally, CalcuL8™ identifies productivity loss costs associated with these risk factors. CalcuL8™ projects future healthcare-related costs for the company and provides break-even analysis scenarios and return-on-investment projections for interventions related to the company’s eight most costly lifestyle-related risk factors.

CalcuL8™ begins with the collection of organizational population data sing a data request form (DRF):
Demographic information
Health claims metrics
Employee health risk factors (including personal behaviors and environmental risks)
Data on the organization’s health promotion programming

Once the data is submitted, the CalcuL8™ report examines eight of the twenty-five Major Diagnostic Categories (MDCs) which are most closely related to lifestyle behaviors. Examining costs of all risk factors across these eight MDCs is how CalcuL8™ determines dollar amounts associated with modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors.
